Title: The Little Prince
Author: Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Genre: Children's Book
Rating: 5 out of 5
I didn't have the joy to read The Little Prince when I was younger, and one day I felt compelled to read it. So I did. This children's book (although everyone can read this) is, in the simplest of terms, whimsical. It tells the tale of a man who's plane crashed in a remote area. Here, this man meets a prince who asks him to draw him a sheep. The man learns that the little prince lived on an asteroid and traveled many planets before he came to Earth. Readers learn about the journey the prince takes and the friendship of the pilot and the prince.
I had very high expectations going into this story. Everyone who read it is completely in love with it and I can see why. The little prince is an extremely strange character and that is what makes him so fascinating. He is rather detached and did not answer questions, but asked them instead. The pilot's voice is also very entertaining. What I found to be the best part on this book was the friendship between the two characters as well as the peculiar journey the prince had. The friendship was beautiful, especially at the end. The connection between the characters was felt in this story. I loved the part when the pilot looked at the stars and heard the prince's laugh. There was also a lesson to be learned from each of the planet's inhabitants and each inhabitant was rather peculiar like the prince. These elements all contributed to the aura the book gave off.
Overall, this story is a complete success. I gave it a 5 out of 5 rating. Anyone who has not read it should as it is able to be enjoyed by all and is such an acclaimed story. The Little Prince was sincerely magical.
