Pierogis and Potato Pancakes |
I tried a restaurant called Syrenka in Philly today that serves traditional Polish meals. Syrenka in Polish means mermaid or siren. Can I say that their food drew me in like a siren? I tried their golabki, pierogis, and potato pancakes (as pictured above) and all of them were to die for. The golabki, cabbage stuffed with meat and rice and topped with tomato sauce, was delicious and flavorful. They were so yummy. The pierogis were made fresh and were divine: nothing like the frozen, boxed ones you'd buy at the store. The frozen ones taste like cardboard compared to these. The potato pancakes tasted like heaven. They were fried to perfection and were super crispy. I got mine with applesauce even though I had the option for sauerkraut instead. I loved this small, cafeteria-style, family-owned restaurant. Definitely check it out if you are in the area.
