I Have a Problem: Reading Slumps (How To Stop Them and Tips)

As an avid reader, I have a huge problem... They are called reading slumps. I am sure you all know the feeling: the attempts at reading that backfires, the feeling of hopelessness when you can't read. I have recently been in the biggest reading slump of my life, partly because I just read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Luckily, I am here to save you from this difficult endeavor... :) Here are my tips to avoid / stop reading slumps:

1) DO NOT Force it
If you do not feel like reading, don't do it. You will not enjoy the book you are reading and it will only make reading harder for you. Only read when you want to. If you are not feeling it at all (like I was), do not force a book on yourself. Taking a break is totally fine, no matter how wrong it feels.

2) Go on Booktube or Book Blogs
This is one of the best things you can do during a slump. Booktube (book youtube channels) and Book Blogs, like this one, (side note: do you guys want me to post a video on this blog? If so, what do you want to see?) can motivate you and get you pepped up to read a book. They can give you recommendations and also a longing to read.

3) Try to Read
If you want finally read, try to read a book you know you'll love (I tend to lean towards contemporary and fantasy. During my slump, I picked up Six of Crows, my current read and I am out of my reading slump). Pick an easy-to-read book. Most people pick up contemporaries to get out of their situation, while others reread old favorites (I would totally go for Harry Potter or Tfios).

4) Watch Book-to-TV or Book-to-Movie Adaptations
Just do it.
Just kidding. This actually helps. I have used this tips many times and it is amazing. It makes you want to read the book that it is about or just read in general.

There you have it. These were my reading slump tips. If none of these work for you remember this: reading is a hobby and a passion. It is totally okay for you not to feel like partaking in that hobby. I hope these tips help.
